{"id":4074,"date":"2024-11-13T15:36:17","date_gmt":"2024-11-13T14:36:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pipeline-equipment.de\/pipeline-wordpress-update-2025\/blog\/sueddeutsche-erdgasleitung-arge-sel-01\/"},"modified":"2026-10-26T11:20:42","modified_gmt":"2026-10-26T10:20:42","slug":"sueddeutsche-erdgasleitung-arge-sel-01","status":"publish","type":"blog","link":"https:\/\/www.pipeline-equipment.de\/en\/blog\/sueddeutsche-erdgasleitung-arge-sel-01\/","title":{"rendered":"S\u00fcddeutsche Erdgasleitung (SEL): ARGE SEL 01 \/ DN 1200"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As part of the major infrastructure project <strong>S\u00fcddeutsche Erdgasleitung (SEL)<\/strong>, the joint venture <strong>ARGE SEL 01 \/ DN 1200<\/strong> contributes to a secure energy supply in southern Germany while paving the way for the future use of hydrogen as an energy carrier.<\/p>\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Project overview: S\u00fcddeutsche Erdgasleitung and the energy transition<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The project comprised the laying of a <strong>24-kilometre section<\/strong> of the <strong>S\u00fcddeutsche Erdgasleitung<\/strong>, which extends over a total length of <strong>250 kilometres<\/strong>. The pipeline runs through the state of <strong>Baden-W\u00fcrttemberg<\/strong> and is designed to transport not only natural gas but also hydrogen from around <strong>2030<\/strong>. This makes the SEL an important building block of the energy transition, as it promotes a CO\u2082-neutral energy supply for the region and the phase-out of coal-fired power generation.  <\/p>\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Customer and partners: Implementation of the S\u00fcddeutsche Erdgasleitung<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The project was carried out jointly by several renowned companies: <strong>PPS Pipeline Systems GmbH<\/strong>, <strong>FRIEDRICH VORWERK Group SE<\/strong>, <strong>HABAU Hoch- und Tiefbaugesellschaft m.b.H.<\/strong> and <strong>Bohlen &amp; Doyen Bau GmbH<\/strong>. With their expertise and many years of experience, these companies completed the section successfully. <\/p>\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Construction period: In operation since December 2024<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>24-kilometre<\/strong> first section of the SEL between Heilbronn and L\u00f6chgau was built in around <strong>nine months<\/strong> and has been transporting gas since <strong>December 2024<\/strong>. By<strong> December 2025<\/strong>, Terranets BW had restored the entire route \u2013 the agricultural land was already returned to the farmers in mid-2025. <\/p>\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Products and technology: Materials and machines for the pipeline<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Various specialised products and machines were used to lay the pipes, meeting the high requirements for safety and efficiency:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pipeline-equipment.de\/en\/lowering-in-belt-for-professional-pipeline-construction\/\">Pipeline lifting belt<\/a><\/strong> for safe and gentle laying<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pipeline-equipment.de\/en\/pipe-night-caps-for-pipe-ends\/\">Pipe night caps<\/a><\/strong> to protect the pipe ends<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pipeline-equipment.de\/en\/external-line-up-clamp-for-precise-welding\/\">External line-up clamps<\/a><\/strong> for precise alignment of the pipes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pipeline-equipment.de\/en\/pipeline-wheel-brush-for-welding-seam-processing\/\">Pipeline wheel brushes<\/a><\/strong> for surface treatment<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pipeline-equipment.de\/en\/morooka-dumper\/\"><strong>Crawler dumpers<\/strong><\/a> from <strong>Morooka<\/strong> and <strong>Hitachi<\/strong> for efficient material handling<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These high-quality products and machines enabled fast and safe laying of the pipeline.<\/p>\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Services provided by Pipeline Equipment<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Pipeline Equipment<\/strong> provided comprehensive support in this project in the form of:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Consulting and tool planning<\/strong>: We provided advice as early as the planning phase to determine the optimal equipment for the construction site.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Maintenance and on-site replacement service:<\/strong> A maintenance and replacement service ensured that tools and machines were always ready for use and could be replaced directly on site if required.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Conclusion: ARGE SEL 01 successfully completed<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>ARGE SEL 01 \/ DN 1200<\/strong> project was successfully completed: gas has been flowing through the first section of the S\u00fcddeutsche Erdgasleitung since <strong>December 2024<\/strong>. From the 2030s, the pipeline is to transport hydrogen, supporting the energy transition in Baden-W\u00fcrttemberg. Thanks to good planning, high-quality materials and the support of Pipeline Equipment, construction went without major problems.
