Project overview: Modernising the TENP for the European gas market
The TENP was first built between 1972 and 1974 and runs for 500 kilometres from Aachen to Wallbach on the German-Swiss border. It is of great importance to Europe’s energy supply, transporting natural gas from the Netherlands to Germany, Switzerland and Italy.
The most recent project section, from 2022 to October 2024, comprised the dismantling and expansion of a 51-kilometre pipeline in Rhineland-Palatinate. The aim was to increase capacity and ensure long-term security of supply.
