Two important gas pipelines operated by Gasunie Deutschland are currently being built in the Stade area: the ETL 182 in DN 1400 and the ETL 179.200 in DN 900. Since early 2026, Pipeline Equipment has been supplying both construction sites with equipment for lifting, aligning and welding – directly to the material yards in Stade and Zeven.
Project overview: Two pipelines for LNG from Stade and Brunsbüttel
The ETL 182 is around 87 kilometres long and runs from the Elbe Süd network point near Stade through the districts of Stade, Rotenburg (Wümme) and Verden to the compressor station near Achim. It carries the liquefied natural gas landed in Stade and Brunsbüttel southwards and is designed for future hydrogen transport.
The ETL 179.200 connects Stade-Bützfleth with Deinste over around 18 kilometres. It links the planned onshore LNG terminal in Stade to the gas grid and is also built to be hydrogen-ready.
Customer and partners
The pipelines are being built by the ARGE ETL 182 joint venture, made up of Friedrich Vorwerk SE & Co. KG, PPS Pipeline Systems GmbH, HABAU Hoch- und Tiefbaugesellschaft m.b.H., Bohlen & Doyen Bau GmbH and SICIM S.p.A. The client is Gasunie Deutschland Transport Services GmbH.
Construction period: Commissioning in 2026 and 2027
Construction of the ETL 182 began in January 2026, with commissioning planned for the end of 2027. The ETL 179.200 has been under construction since March 2026 and is scheduled for technical completion at the end of 2026.
We have been delivering continuously since January 2026 as construction progresses – sometimes by freight forwarder, sometimes as an express delivery.
Products and technology: Equipment for DN 900 and DN 1400
For lifting, aligning and welding the pipes, we supplied:
- Chokerbelts DN 900 with a 10 t load capacity for safe lifting of the pipes
- Lowering-in belt with a load capacity of 32 t
- Pipe lifting belts with 4 t and 20 t load capacity
- External line-up clamps DN 900 with hydraulic cylinders for precise alignment of the pipe ends
- Calibration disks made of aluminium with an outer diameter of 860 mm
- Welding blankets DN 900 from our own production, heat-resistant up to 800 °C
- Welding umbrellas with a diameter of 2.5 m
- Welder reclining boards in a reinforced version
- Pipe jacks with a 1,000 kg load capacity
Services by Pipeline Equipment
In addition to supplying equipment, we supported the ARGE with these services:
- Express deliveries: Urgent orders leave Gladbeck at short notice, as express if required.
- Delivery to the construction site: Directly to the ARGE material yards in Stade and Zeven.
- Rental: Equipment that is only needed for individual construction phases is also available for rent from us.
Conclusion: Equipment for the LNG connection in northern Germany
ETL 182 and ETL 179.200 bring LNG from Stade and Brunsbüttel into the German gas grid – and are already designed for hydrogen.
